Usually, you may share a room with someone else and have a community bathroom (w/ others on your floor). You may also be in a 2 bedroom apartment type dorm…with either 2 people or 4 (meaning you’ll double up in bedrooms). You can get a 4 bedroom apartment dorm as well (w/ a shared or private bathroom), with 4 people. Lastly, you can get a private room as well.

The school should be able to let you contact your roommate beforehand. If you know the name, you might be able to search it up on facebook or myspace and email eachother. Its always good to talk before you go in on move-in day.

But if you dont like your roommate, you can talk to the RA (Resident Assistant) and they can probably pair you with another person.

What you should try to do is see if you could get in touch with your roommates ahead of time, try emailing them. 2 of my 3 roommamtes had emailed me before we met so I was a little less nervous to meet them and when I did we all hit it off great. There was a room snaffoo so we got a 3rd girl who wasn’t originally supposed to be our roommate but none of us cared. I became great friends with the 2 roommates I talked to before moving in because they were very chill people and chances are that you may not like all your roommates but try to make it work. I’m not gonna lie and say that everything was perfect, the 3rd roommate was a bizatch and eventually moved out but it doesn’t mean you should be freaking yourself out about it. Try to be friends with your roommates and if one wants to be b-itchy then it’s not your fault and you shouldn’t let it ruin your life. If worst comes to worst you could always try to put in for a room transfer or set up a meeting with your RA so that all issues within the room could be resolved. Just try to have fun!

Oh, yay! I go to GSU. In fact I am there RIGHT now. I can’t really relate to your question though because I never lived in the dorms. My only advice would be to not worry. You will have, what, three other roommates. You are bound to get along with one of them. People here are pretty friendly, and your new roommates are probably feeling the same way as you. Just be excited.

one of the biggest leessons of college was learning to live in close quarters with people. go in with a positive attitude and enjoy!1
