Should I graduate from high school a year early?

I’m a junior this year in high schoool and will be taking the SAT soon. Also, I have a 4.6 GPA and have completed most of my high school requirements except for government and English that I would have to take next year as a high school senior. I recently talked to my parents about this and they think it’s a gerat idea and support me a 100%. Plus, I know what carrer I want to pursue and I know I could handle an university since I have been taking colllege classes and know what they’re like. Do you think it’s a good idea?

Go for it.

University NO. Community college YES.

Your friends will join you soon. Tell them to sign up for the middle college program.

that way u will have a class or two with them anyway

Have u decided on a major?

Good Luck

I wish my parents had been that supportive when I just wanted to graduate a semester early haha. If you know what you want (and you seem like a level headed person that probably would…even though being young and in college often leaves a person open to wanting to change their mind a lot it seems) then go for it. You obviously have awesome grades and if you participated in extracurriculars colleges will be all over you (don’t forget to get out there and get those scholarships!). You mentioned that you think you can handle college. College isn’t just about the classes. It’s about learning how to live on your own without mommy and daddy. It takes a person who is mature and responsible to be able to truly handle college. Given the drop out rate at a lot of schools is at least 25% after the first semester you should really consider the fact that there is a lot of temptation to go crazy when you’re on your own. Don’t do it. Resist. Make friends that don’t party the whole time and don’t fall in with the people that don’t really care about you and just care about having a good time. I’m not saying you can’t have a good time at all. You just need to keep the habits of discipline that you have now, if not better, in order to become successful. I wish the best of luck to you in whatever you do.

I would stay another year in high school especially if you want to go to college. Ive been told that you cant really get accepted into many colleges with only three years of high school and even if you meet the minimum graduation requirements they look for above that. If you hate school that much then i guess you could finish a year early just make sure thats what you want to do i recommend you try and stick it out.

I think you are a wise young person. I would take that year and remain in High School. If you are an achiever that is not going to change so you do not need to rush into college.

Senior year is a treasure in the hearts of many people and I think that you should experience it with your friends and peers. Also you can do a lot of growing and maturing both socially and emotionally in that year. College is not about the books entirely it is a different atmosphere than High School. The real question is how ready to you feel to be out facing the world as an adult because that is what you would be doing. In asking you are answering your own question, you are not ready for college yet so why jump in the deep end of the pool before you are ready to swim?

Have you talked to your counselor about it? I have started applying to colleges? Have you gotten involved in clubs/ shown leadership through them? These are things you typically start doing druing your senior year of HS. If you haven’t yet, it may be a good sign you aren’t ready to graduate.

If you think you can still get this kind of stuff done by the end of te year, I think graduating early is a good idea. The farther you can get ahead of the game, the better.

Yes, it can be a good decicion for you, if you have thought completely. Are you going to regrete missing your prom and graduation with your friends, memories of ur senior year and lots other things that you dont think about right now. i graduated a year early and i was so excited! but after a couple of years i kinda started to regrete it a lil bit. but if you have thought about it alot and know what you want to do with your like then i would say go for it. good luck!

I think its a good idea especially if you only have 2 classes left in school. You would really just be wasting your time. Use your time wisely. You know what you want. I say go for it.

It’s an excellent idea! The only reason I didn’t graduate early is because my sister threatened to kill me if I left her! So she graduated early while I coasted through my last year adding on whatever extra interested me. Go for it!

If you think you’re ready for college then go for it. The only bad part about graduating early would be the fact the you would be really young being a freshman in college. If I had the opportunity, I would go for it.

If you can keep taking the college classes at your high school.. then do it.. once you are out of that system there is no guarantee that you will be able to get any sort of financial help.
