What’s the best way to choose my major? The best way to choose a college?

I have no idea. Totally clueless. I’m junior in highschool with a regular GPA of 3.8-4.0. I love the areas of stage theatre (acting), but I also love to write, and am very good at my english classes. Literature and essays and things are what i’m good at.

So I’m not sure whether to follow the theatre path or the writing path. I could always do both, I suppose. I just dont know.

Also, what is a good way to choose a college once I figure out what to do?

Try out this website from the government. It pretty much chronicles every major job out there in the United States, from what their median earnings are to what the prospective outlook is for the next ten years. Great resource for helping to choose what major you want (a friend of mine went the CLS route because of the info she found on this website).

And type in your planned career on the top right portion where it says “Search the Handbook”. They have a specific section on theatre, with many more options on education.

As far choosing a college, if this helps I’ve always been of the opinion that it’s not the college that makes the student, but rather the other way around. To me as long as there’s an accredited degree that they can offer to me I’ll take it, no matter what school it came from, and then when I’m out there in the real world I expect myself to make my own results and not the school I attended. Sorry, I wish I could be more help on this particular matter.

Anyways hope this info helps you out.

The best way to choose a college major is by listing all of your talents and hobbies. Then right under each one, you want to write all of the different career fields within each major. Then after that pick at least 2 from each and those 2 will be your main focus (in terms of occupation). For example, I like to to act and write, I will choose THEATRE and ENGLISH as my possible major. Now under each one I will write all of the different careers that I can become. Then select 2 of your top ones from each major and those 4 total will be your options once you graduate college.

Now since you are interested in theatre and writing, I recommend that you look into double majoring or major in one and minor in the other.

The best way to choose a college is by selecting the schools that have the major you want. Then rank them by your preference such as location, cost, private vs public and so on.

Hope this helps!

it will save you time and money if you figure out a major that you want to do so all your classes match. well people have things that limit them like staying close to home or wanting to move away and one of the biggest things is financially oppurtunities, since instate is much cheaper than out of state and private schools are much more expensive than public schools. Also another thing is people want to do something different so if you live in a rural area you might want to move to an urban campus or vice versa. some people prefer to stay where their at so some that live in a rural area might choose another rural area same goes for urban.

you like theatre and writing, sounds like a teacher to me. teachers are always acting around people and writing stuff on the board. some teacher jobs are in the six figures. most people choose college by location (closest to home?), and mostly of course by finances(can i afford a semester or 2?).
