What does a junior in High school have to do to prepare himself for Medical School?

When I graduate I want to become a doctor…or at least someone in the medical field.

What can I do as a junior in high school to prepare?

This source will give you a good overview: http://people.howstuffworks.com/becoming-a-doctor.htm

I do recommend, to high school students, that they take as many science and math courses as they can. Preferrably in Advance Placement classes.

I do not recommend that they do the same in college! In college, a student should take the prereq courses, but do a non-science major–unless that student is interested in doing medical research and then you’re usually talking about somebody who wants a PhD and then a MD.

Get going on your volunteer experience. It WILL impact your future decisions.

If I were you, I’d transfer to a High School offering an IB (International Baccalaureate) diploma.

ps: Take the toughest Science and Math courses you can find in High School – especially Chemistry. Don’t waste time with “Medical Terminology” or similar technician-level courses.

Take AP bio and any medical type classes offered at your school like medical terminology or health science.
