What do you / will you / did you major in and why?

I’m going to college!! I’ve always expected to major in english, or journalism or something of the sort. I am a writer. I know, however, that there are different majors at each school, so, I’m interested in learning what the variety of majors are that you people are interested in. :->

I recently graduated with a Finance degree and quickly began a career in banking, something I had always wanted to do. The career will also allow me to become licensed in the usual requirements a Finance graduate like mewants, which includes a Group 1 license (Life & health), Series 6, 63, and a potential Series 7 (the creme de la creme). I obtained this major because I like dealing with investments and people’s money. It’s a fun challenge to try and help clients out with what suits them best, whether it’s something as simple as a custodian account to the more complicated issues like trust and escrow accounts. I love that kind of stuff.

I majored in art, but later studied Japanese and made a career in Japanese. It was a childhood ambition. My dad used to be a great admirer of Japan and its people. He would say that if he had the means he would send his children to study in Japan, rather than in the West.

The souvenirs he brought back fascinated me as they were so beautifully presented and had write-ups in those delightful characters! When people he had met in Japan came over to visit, I found that most of them could not speak English. I decided to learn the language. I did not get an opportunity for years, but when I finally did, I dug my heels in. It was tough work, but worth it. I am still at it!

Papa had passed on before I started studying Japanese. I like to think that he knows about it and is happy.
