What are my chances of getting into the following colleges?

I’m going to be a high school senior next year. My GPA is about 4.2. I haven’t taken the SAT yet, and I intend to take it this fall. I’m trying to practice SAT over the summer and trying to improve as much as I can.

Next year will be my 3rd year in my school’s debate team. I’m also doing 200 volunteer service hours over this summer. Next year I’m taking 8 classes, which makes 4 years for major subjects (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Foreign Language).

Unfortunately, I neither go to any clubs in my school nor do I play any sports. :-/

I was wondering; what are my chances of getting into the following colleges?

1) any ivy league (Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Cornell, Dartmouth,

2) University of Texas at Austin

3) Stanford University

4) University of Pennsylvania

5) Rice University

7) New York University

8) Baylor University

9) University of Notre Dame

Your chances are good. Continue to study for the SATs. Being on the debate team will be counted as a club. Your community service sounds good. You will be just fine. bood luck!

How can your GPA be 4.2? The highest GPA is 4.0

But, if you mean 3.2, getting into an Ivy League would be extremely hard. It would be easier if you excel in one subject in school. Start particpating in clubs, that helps a lot. Take APs too. Colleges would be happy to see that you are ahead and wanted to learn more in school.

I’m not sure about the other colleges and universities, but NYU would be fairly easier to get into. As I said before, apply to the NYU school that you think you would enjoy the most, whether its art, math, english, foreign language, etc.

You have a really good chance for most of those. I think that debate team counts as a club, by the way. Just do well on the SAT and you’ll probably get in to almost all of those!

if you live in texas, top 10% gets into UT Austin!!! Based on your GPA (which seems top of the class), and your exceeding requirements, you have a very very good chance on getting into university of texas at austin.

that’s where i go! 🙂

i do not know about the other colleges, but keep up the volunteer hours for your resume in the future.

Consult Lovejoy’s College guide. It is available in all public library reference departments and high school guidance departments.

Consult your school counselor.

Look at the college catalogs for these universities.

Did you reallly expect that we were going to evaluate each of those colleges for you for two points?
