If you are looking to stay in or around Texas, this will narrow down your list a lot.

Texas A&M is the only Vet school in Texas. Oklahoma St. also has a Vet school. Other Vets schools “somewhat” close by include: University of Georgia, Kansas State University, Louisiana State University, and Mississippi State University.

Texas A&M.

I went to their saturday open house decided along the way didn’t want to be a vet. Did go to A&M for another degree. They have a BIMS major that I have heard helps you get into vet school and you can take some classes as an undergrad at the vet school. I would go to one of their saturday open houes sometime in the spring they might have one in the fall that way you can see what is required. The program seemed good when I talked to them but, just decided doing other things was more for me.

well first you have to major in a undergraduate program at a university…that is typically a 4 year program and most people major in biology, or some type of science, but really you can major in anything as long as you are pre-med and take the few basic classes required for admission into med-school. You then take some vet school admission test and that is when you apply to vet schools…i think there are only like 26 or something in the whole US so you really have to stand out…the only one I am aware of is like 20 min from me…the University of Pennsylvania Vet school, they are amazing…the school is in philadelphia, so check out their website at a search engine and see what you think…best luck to you!

Texas A&M has a quality Veterinarian program. That’s hard for me to say since I’m a UT Texas fan, but what I do know is that A&M is well known for their Veterinarian Program.

I know it’s a bit far, but Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VA Tech) has a wonderful all-in-one veterinary program. What I mean by that is, you wouldn’t have to major in biology and after four years at a liberal arts school THEN go to veterinary school, but could begin your veterinary studies in your undergraduate education. Virginia Tech has a whole college devoted to veterinary medicine and is a respected institution for all of its technical programs. Visit their website (below) for more info!
