Go with something in your state as in state students usually pay less then out of state students, you should also take classes at community college when you do find a place you’d like to go, you can take all of the random classes that your university makes you take to get a well rounded education. It’s cheaper in the long run.

I would first ask whether you want to be an MD or an RN. The two routes are very different in terms of time and expense. You can get an RN in 2-4 years, but an MD takes at least 8, if you count residency. In terms of expense, medical school is very expensive, you will have to borrow a lot of money (unless you’re independantly wealthy). Somewhere between $80K-250K is what medical school costs. Getting an RN can be done at a community college or a 4 year university which will be much cheaper. When considering nurse v. doctor, ask yourself where you like to be and what you like to do in the the health care hierarchy. If you like being the go to guy rather than implementing someone else’s orders, maybe medicine is better. If you would rather implement someone else’s plan but have a lot of direct patient care, perhaps nursing is more suitable. For medical schools, check out the AAMC.org site. Best of luck.
