Well paying jobs in my future.?

Hi I’m just in high school and i was wondering about how I should go about getting a high paying job like what i should major in in college. I was hoping for maybe a job in banking or a job in an office but not where I’m an office slave. Maybe a yuppie job or something similar ,but I’m not really wanting the yuppie lifestyle just a god job.

Everyone has their own interpretation of what a good job is, because everyone’s idea of success for their lives is different. However, try not to focus on the money because you can end up with a job you hate. If you do something you love, not only will you not be miserable and your job will feel less like a job and more like a passion, you can figure out ways to make more money in that field.

Use this time in high school to get the best grades you can, prepare really well for your SAT exam, do volunteer work, go for leadership opportunities in clubs and organizations in school, and figure out the things you like to do. Keep your eye out for professions you seem drawn to, then google “what can I do with a business/international relations/communications/whatever you’re interested in degree/major?” You’ll get a bunch of links with lists of career options for each. Write them down and google each one for additional information. A great website that will give you information such as training, salary, job outlook is the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational handbook:

http://www.bls.gov/oco/

Type in the career e.g. marketing analyst, financial planner, etc. into the search box on the top right-hand corner.

Good luck.

First of all, decide what you would like to do. Then have a plan. Every field has jobs that pay well. If you have a field that interests you and you get a job in it, it is doubly satisfying. Ask your school counselor. They may be able to talk to different companies that may let you “visit” them for a day and see what goes on.
