It’s only worth it if it’s a university.

There really is no point in going to an orientation for community college.

Yes, you should go. I went to my freshman orientation and I can tell you that while you think that it might be boring some of it will be informational. Although, now that I can remember a little, I didn’t learn anything that I couldn’t later get from my roommate or new friends but, I feel that since it is a community college, this will give you a chance to see what they have to offer, you might meet new people…you should just go…its a one time thing and it is only the beginning of what you will experience in life for a long period of time.

It is worthwhile for a few reasons.

You may meet other students that you have never seen in your community before. Even though this is community college you can still connect with others and this will help both socially and in your class work.

You may find yourself in need of trucking it from one end of the campus to the other. Spend the time to get to know the campus and you will not spend the time and anxiety of trying to find that $%^#ing class room.

Usually all important student resources are pointed out during Orientation. There may be resources you did not know existed.

And last of all–going to Orientation is a good start to taking your college studies seriously. You’re paying some pretty good dough to go–squeeze all you can out of it.

If you are unwilling to give up four hours of your time to something you think will be boring, you will never make it through community college. You should just drop out now. Community college will put you through so many boring hours before you are done. If you can’t accept that, you are not ready to go to school. You will only succeed in college once you learn that you must sacrifice a lot of your time in order to win your associate’s degree.

It’s always helpful, and you may learn something you didn’t know. It’s more than just a map and a tour – it introduces you to all sorts of policies and programs you might otherwise have to find out about the hard way.

If you don’t have the patience to sit through four hours, then you’re going to face real problems in college. Consider it practice.

It’s probably worth it because, if it’s four hours long, they are going to be talking about more than where things are on a map. You’ll probably get an introduction to the various student service offices and staff and learn who you need to speak to about any issues you might have (everything from financial aid, parking problems, and scheduling to grade disputes and health services).

They could talk about things like honor code, campus safety and rules, study groups, student organizations, degree requirements, etc.

Orientations are put together for a reason: they work. Without going, you don’t even know what it is you’ll be missing. Getting all you can out of your education starts with the proper attitude and yours already stinks. Even if you don’t like it, you’ll meet people and find out about what that college has to offer.

I wish I would’ve went to mine, but I was out of town. You should go or you’ll be lost!

out of the hundreds (or maybe thousands) of hours you will put toward your degree in class/prep/homework/study and writing time, you’re ditching the first four hours of what should be required of all freshmen? Oh just go and get it over with already, otherwise you’re setting yourself up psychologically to just ditch anything “you’ve” decided isn’t worth your time. Maybe you should just get a job…….

Just go, what do you have to loose. and even if it is boring as ever, you will probably get to meet some new people before class even starts.
