Well if you’re demotivated, usually, you’re not doing what interests you. ADHD aside, you could really help yourself by finding out what you could do that would make you a bit less unhappy than you are now.

Since you’re attending the college, you have career support and advice that you can access free of charge. You should take advantage of that.

If you do have a problem, than medication may help, but it is less likely that it’s going to be effective in the long term. Non-medical interventions such as behavioural (making yourself do positive things) and cognitive (thinking positively) is far better for you in the long run.

You should also take advantage of any personal counselling services that the college may offer.

With any courses, you have to memorize and read tons of stuff and it’s the same if your course is in literature or biology. You have to develop the same study skills for any given course. The medication for ADHD are all stimulants, so consuming caffeine (a stimulant) would help you.

Remember, getting a piece of paper (aka degree) is used only to prove to employers that you are mature enough to do whatever they want you to do. Or it’s a small step you have to conquer if you want to do post grad studies. Either way, you still end being in an entry level position while trying to work your way up – with or without a bachelor’s degree.

College diplomas aren’t everything:

Richard Branson dropped out of high school and Bill Gates, after dropping out of college over 30 years ago, only recently got his bachelor’s degree.
