It is one of life’s lessons, in order to teach you to get along with people that you may not care for. You are, afterall, there to learn and not to have it easy. I am also guessing that you are paying a great amount of money to receive a great education and not just an expensive ride.

Just because the teacher has a reputation for being “the worst tutor in the school” does not necessarily mean that it is true. You could get changed and miss out on someone who might turn out to be the best tutor for you. I don’t see how you can know for sure that this teacher is not a good choice for you based on the first day and the word of other people.

You could try explaining to someone that you chose the first group because you heard that the teacher assigned as the tutor was an excellent choice and you would love to have the opportunity to work with him/her. Whatever you do, do not tell them that you do not like the tutor you were assigned or the students that are also assigned to that group.

Before doing anything, ask yourself if you “really” dislike the other students or if you just do not want to take the time to get to know them because you would prefer to have fun with your friends.

Sadly, there will be many professors and students that you will have to work with that you may not like or get along with. Just as you will have bosses and co-workers that you would prefer not to know.
