Pre-med colleges, which one is the best?

I am a High School Sophomore and I am interested in going into the medical field. I will graduate high school with 58 college credits and I have looked at several colleges already, but I want to know which one has the best Medical school acceptance rate?? Or, if they have a 6 year pre-med program that includes medical school? Does anyone know??

I would recommend attending a pre-med program and then applying to medical school. This option gives you the choice of whether or not to attend medical school after getting your undergraduate degree. This route also enables you to pursue MD/PhD. Some of the schools that have good pre-med programs and high medical school acceptance rates are Johns Hopkins University (highest rate), Harvard College, the University of Pennsylvania, Washington University in St. Louis, and Columbia University. Public schools that have good pre-med programs include UC Berkeley, University of Michigan, and the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Best of luck to you.

I think there are 7-year programs (but getting into them will be as hard as getting into Harvard). First, I’d check out any universities that you are interested in that have associated medical schools associated with them (like VCU/MCV). Some of them might give guaranteed acceptance into their medical schools so long as you keep your GPA at a certain level and do well in all your science courses. This might make your prospects of getting into medical school a lot easier. But if you just end up at a regular university, make sure you go to a good one, but also to one where you can earn at least a 3.0 (and probably higher–I think 3.4-3.6 is about the average GPA of college students who enter medical school). Then do well on the MCATs, and you’ll probably get in.

Med schools are pretty competitive. You need to score high on the testing and have great grades plus extras like volunteer work, letter of recommendation and so forth. Don’t drop out of school no matter what.
