Any class is better in a real classroom.

Trust me, avoid online classes if you can. Between difficulty in communication, technical issues, and consummation of time, keep your learning in the classroom if you can.

Online classes are easier for those with a busy schedule, but as the others have said, you have to have the drive and the discipline for it. You do miss out on the one-on-one experience conversation in the classroom can give, but if you are like me – working full time 7 days a week, it was more convenient to do online classes. I took 4 of them and aced them all. I did have to “go to class” more often than going to an actual classroom, 5 days out of 7, but mostly just to check in and add a comment or two. If you have discipline, go for it. If you think you will be tempted by distractions like surfing the ‘net, think twice.

The classroom is always superior – no question. Statistics is a challenging subject, and there is something to be said for being able to be in a classroom with a person who is (hopefully) an expert in his/her field. When you don’t “get” something, s/he can see it in your eyes – you don’t have to wait until you do poorly on a test to receive feedback via email. Furthermore, it is easier to learn when you know the person who is teaching you. Likewise, it is easier to teach someone when you truly know them. In both cases, the classroom is a much better place to facilitate learning.

The better question to ask is probably: Can you study on your own and still do well on exams?

If so, online is probably the best. No one wants to sit in a class filled with students on hot days and taking statistics, unless of course you like it.

I just took stats on line in the summer worst move ever(so time consuming and just more difficult than person to person help)… But it was a summer course so that may have had a lot to do with it. It was so much more difficult than I imagined it would be…btw I had taken behavior statistics before so some of the concepts many of them were familiar in the math course but it was still extremely difficult.

If you’re not particularly good at math (like me) then I would recommend a classroom that way you could ask for help from your teacher, a TA, or another student. If you’re exceptionally good at math then it would really end up being what you prefer. I prefer classrooms tho.

What is your learning style? I need to have a classroom where I can ask someone right there and then a question if I have one.
