For pharmacy school, the only financial aid you can get is loans. You can’t get grants and you are not elgible for TA/GA-ships. There is no way you can work full time. Most students work less than 15 hours per week. I get some help from my parents, but I did not complete a bachelors.

Pharmacology will most likely lead you into either the academic or industry sectors of pharmacy. To practice in any pharmacy you need to be a licensed pharmacist which requires graduation from a Doctor of Pharmacy program. You should do whichever one interests you more, there is a lot of overlap between medicine and pharmacy, but each emphasizes different areas. Medicine focuses more on diagnosics and treatment modalities while Pharmacy focuses on pharmacologic, and nonpharmacologic, treatment modalities. After my pharmacy program I completed a residency and now I work as a clinical pharmacist which places me on a team with physicians and we see patients every day as a team discussing diagnoses as well as treatment options – so I do both diagnostics and pharmacology. I love my job, but I know that it isn’t for everyone.

Undergrad: Financial aid-Grants, Scholarships, Loans=$25,000

Masters: Loans and a small assistantship=$100,000

Doctorate: Assistantship and some small loans=$16,000
