My SAT Score is 1780. Can I go to average major universities?

All right, here’s the thing. I am 18 years old. I pretty much messed up alright? My high school grades were far worse than normal due to my skipping habit. Last year, I dropped out of high school because of my personal philosophical reasons that most would regard as bull ****. I have no criminal nor violence records.

Anyway, I passed the GED last year. Then, I took the SAT.

SAT Scores were

CR 580

M 650

CW 550

Now, the average SAT scores of applicants that are accepted by the Temple University are

CR 500 ~ 600

M 500 ~ 600

CW N/A

Obviously, I did exceed the average scores, but I have big minus points

1. High school drop out boy

2. GED graduate

Although I have almost no extracurriculars, I will start a volunteering and get at least two recommendations (not strong).

What are my chances to be accepted by average major universities like Temple? (can be worse, and I’m fine as long as it isn’t a community college)

Thank you for reading my personal worries.

Honestly, I doubt you would get in. You can try to apply anyway, and if the essay topic allows write about how you messed up but realized that you need education or something. Apply to Temple, but apply everywhere else in the world as well because you want to avoid community college.

However, it would be best for you to go to a community college for two years and complete your general education requirements, then transfer to a university. Community college it not a bad thing; many people do it because they messed up in the past or because they want to save money.

You have a chance at Temple, but probably not a good one.

I’m not sure why you’re so opposed to community colleges. If you did that well on the SAT, you’re obviously reasonably smart, but you have a high school record which won’t indicate that. You could probably go to a CC, do well, and transfer into Temple easily, or even Penn State or some other more prestigious university.
