Make sure you take college prep classes. These next four years ARE important in preparing you for a career in nursing. Take at least one honors course if you can because it will give you an idea what the pace is of college classes. Good luck and have fun.

Don’t know where you live but… don’t let anybody give you a hard time about wanting to be a nurse. I work with a bunch of them and they are great.

Nursing programs will look at your entire high school record–including 9th grade–and assess you as a student and overall person.

Your grades should be high (mostly As and Bs), and you should take the highest level classes you can handle (honors, AP, IB, etc.). You don’t have to take a hundred AP classes, but a few would be good–if you can handle them.

Nursing majors need to be strong in the sciences, so make sure you take bio and chem–and if your school only requires 3 years of science, take 4 anyway.

You should also look into volunteering or working in some sort of medical environment: a nursing home, hospital, etc.

Good luck. There is a nursing shortage in this country, and if you have the skills and decent grades, you will be successful.

Try and get the best grades you can get, shoot for all A’s and B’s. What you take now wont really matter, all that matters is that you get good grades, and get accepted into a good college. While colleges don’t look at 9th grade nursing majors look at it all, so try to keep your grades up and you will be fine.
