CSULB’s nursing program is one of the best in the region. It has a long wait list because a lot of people want to get in. But in general, ALL CSU nursing programs have a waiting list (except maybe Bakersfield).
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN) is a 4-year degree specializing in nursing (other people have Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Fine Arts, etc.). You can get a 2-year degree (Associate of Science in Nursing, ASN) and be a registered nurse, but you get paid much better with the BSN, and you can promote higher!
So to get where you want to go, get a nursing degree. A plain nursing degree. 2 or 4 year, that’s up to you. When you do clinical rotations, you will work EVERYWHERE, including ER (but also including stuff you might not like as much such as ICU or Ob/Gyn). When you get your degree, you can apply to work in ER’s. ER nurses are very much in demand, but it’s high pressure. My sister is an ER nurse. She seems to like it, and she makes more money than me, even though I have a masters degree.
