Is it true?

Ok, Im from the West Coast and applied to the an East Coast university. Do I have some advantage because the university is looking for geographical diversity??

Thats what I heard, that universities from the East like students from the West and that Universities from the West like students from the East.

You think its true?

It is, but it depends on where you applied. If you applied to major schools in major cities on the East Coast, they probably have plenty of applicants from the West Coast so that it won’t benefit you much. If you have applied for off-beat colleges in smaller towns, then it might be a major advantage.

Yes, to a degree. It honestly depends on the size and prestiege of the school. Smaller schools that may not be well known outside of the area may be more welcoming to a person from the west coast. A school like Boston University (BU) or MIT probably won’t care as much where you are from.

Colleges are always looking fro diversity due to affirmative action and other federal govt requirements.

But your odds are usually based on your talents, grades, gender and ethnicity so don’t count on it.
