Is it possible to transfer from CSUN to UCLA after two years of general ed at CSUN?

I want to spend my first years at CSUN rather than a community college. I want to get a BA from UCLA. Also, what are the qualifications for transfering?

Community colleges have a much higher transfer rates to UCs than CSUs (depending on the campus, the transfer rate from community colleges is usually twice as much as other 4-year institutions). The reason is because the UCs discourage transfers from other 4-year institutions. While it’s not impossible to transfer from CSUs to UCs, if your ultimate goal is to graduate from a UC school, attending a community college is the easiest route (you get better transfer support and resources from your community college).

You need to talk with a UCLA admissions counsellor and look at the CSUN handbook. It will show if the courses you are taking are transferrable as a general rule.

Possible? Yes.

Likely? No.

UCs give priority to transfers from CCs. Those trying to transfer from a Cal State or UC are facing an uphill battle b/c UCs consider those people to have gotten a chance to go to a good 4yr uni while the CC people haven’t. As public schools, part of their mission is to provide a chance for these CC people who haven’t gotten a chance.

If you’re going to transfer, then go to a CC. Don’t go to a Cal State.

Yes you can do that. As for the qualifications you would have to speak to UCLA as they are different for each degree.
