How does social status affect the education that your children recieve?

I’m writing a college paper about this, and I need a primary source of information. If anybody could answer some questions (like an e-interview) that would be more than cool. Thanks.

Look at Newsweek for the top rated public schools. (I don’t remember what month they ranked the top 100 schools). The top schools generally are from affluent neighborhoods with hardly anyone receiving government subsidized lunches. There’s also been the debate about ACT and SAT scores being higher for those with relatively higher socioeconomic status than the inner city kids.

I think that this makes things seem possible. If my parents hadn’t been to higher education I don’t know that I would have. But they did, so I am going to higher education. The money we have makes me not need to worry about how to pay for it.
