Will have a bachelors degree in just about anything still open up a bunch of opportunities?

I am in my senior year of college, with my major being Communication Disorders (aka speech therapy) However, to be a speech therapist you need to have a masters degree. With this major you can also be an audiologist but with that you need a ph.d. I do not want to go to grad. school but I still want to work with children and/or adults with speech problems. Does anyone know of any jobs that just require a bachelors degree that would work with children and adults that may have speech/mental/physical/behavior disablities?

there is a lot of different organizations out there dedicated to this topic, more than you would think. i know someone who works for Hopelink, a organization dedicated to helping children with abusive parents and thus learning disabilities…this person has only a bachelors in family medicine and she got the job easilly. Just do some research in your area, you are bound to find many opportunities.

I have been teaching business for 28 years, and right now I don’t have a single former student who has complained about being out of work. It has happened, during recessionary periods, but all of those people are now working. You need some advising, fast. It could be that you are in an area where there are no managerial jobs (I’m in a city, so there are plenty), or it could be that your attitude is coming through on your applications. I don’t know, but you should be doing better. One problem is that you imply you don’t have experience. As I look at position announcements, almost all of the “entry-level” jobs require 1-3 years of prior experience, so we have made sure that our students do a number of internships before they graduate. By the time they finish, most of them aren’t even looking for jobs, because they are hired by someone they did an internship for. If you want to let me know where you are and send me your resume, I’ll see if I can make some suggestions for you.

Yes and no. A lot of districts might hire you regardless because they’re hard-up and can claim it’s an emergency hire, but they won’t necessarily be the nicest districts. Alternatively, you can check with community programs and such. Anything that doesn’t get a lot of state funding may be more flexible about your degree.

If you have a bachelor you could do teacher’s college or special ed. teaching. Just the fact that you have your degree will definitely open many doors to not only that but other fields.

So yes.
