No.

The W does not count against your GPA and is rarely viewed by companies you apply to (if they are looking at your transcript it is to prove that you wnet to the university and that your GPA was real)

IF this is the 3rd or 4th time you dropped a class, it may be an indicator to switch majors.

W’s wont affect you unless there’s a clear pattern, such as dropping one class every semester for the past two years or something crazy like that. A sequence of W’s in a single field is also a negative indicator IF you later desire to go to grad school within that field as admissions will feel you are at high risk to just drop the grad program. Otherwise, no issues for one or two W’s in a person’s academic career.

It depends on the school’s “rules” regarding withdrawals…make sure you look that up or call the registrar office AND the financial aid office if you have loans. They both have requirements.

It is better than an F on a transcript by far.

One thing to keep in mind: if you are on financial aid for full time benefits, you are required to take and pass 12 credits (if you are on the term system), or whatever the credit amount is for full time at your school.

So if you W a class and you are under the school’s full time amount of required credits, you will most likely get put on academic probation and financial aid probation for one term. The next term you have to get good grades to get off academic probation, and some time within the school year you have to make up those credits to fulfill the years requirements for full time for financial aid purposes.

far better than a “F” but if you can get an “I” (incomplete) that would be much better that way you can make up the class by midterm the next semester. But “W” isn’t bad too many are especially if you drop below the minimum required course load, they don’t affect your GPA but graduate schools do’nt want to see too manyof them so use them sparingly!

Good Luck!

Yes especially if you have financial aid. If you have too many withdrawals you can be excluded from receiving financial aid.
