Is Berkeley hard to get into if you are a resident of California?

I was wondering whether residents of California have such a hard time getting into UC berkeley. I know that being a resident helps, i just dont know how much it helps.

87.5% of students accepted into Cal in Fall 2007 were residents of California. The remaining 12.5% of students came from the rest of the country and overseas.

Considering that UCBerkeley’s acceptance rate is around 25 percent of all applicants who apply that means that 2.5 out of 10 applicants will get accepted to Berkeley. On top of that 99 percent or i think 100 percent of all students at Berkeley where in the top 10 percent of their high school graduating class. Not only will you need a gpa of 3.9 or higher, you need to have a long resume of extracurricular activities with great essays.

I think Berkeley’s admissions is frankly random. i have seen people who were rejected with near perfect SAT scores, and I have seen people who were accepted with SAT scores below the national average.

I’ve heard that it can be a little hard getting in. If you are really worried about it you can go to this jr. college http://www.sdmesa.sdccd.cc.ca.us/ if you do well you are guaranteed a spot at Berkeley. My sister is doing that right now.

I know four people who made it in. They were basically A students.

It was not easy for them after they got in.
