If i had this many credit hours from AP classes…?

If i had 19 college credit hours from AP exams in high school (which i should have at the end of the year) would i be considered a sophomore at the end of my first semester of college? Or would they still call me a freshmen even though i’d have my 30 credit hours?

You will need to take to admissions or someone i cant remember who i talked to although i think it was admissions. You will have Sophmore standing after your first semester. Meaning you’ll get high priotity on class schudualing and housing. I went to college with 56 credits from AP classes, and it was hard finding a college that would let me take that many but i had junior standing. I also had a friend who had 32 credit from AP classes and had Sophmore standing going into it. Now you many need to retake a class or two if it is in your major but they should give you elective credit from that class. But you should get standing by the end of your first semester, just when you visit colleges ask about what standing you could have and bring your AP results sheet if you have it. So if you talk with an admissions officer you can physically give it to them and they can tell you what classes you could can get out of. Also you would still have to take freshmen required courses if they make you take them but you have Standing which is good for schedualing and housing. but then again both me and my friend went to SUNY schools and maybe they operate differently than others.

I’m pretty sure you would still be considered a freshman even though you would have the credits of a sophomore. You should check and see if the college you are applying to accepts the credits of your AP classes. That’s why I left high school early and went straight to college because many colleges will acknowledge that you took APs and accept you, but they will make you re-take your APs.

Many people will lie to you if you ask them about this.

Good luck.

At my institution, AP courses were not handled like transfers. Instead, I got credit for the equivalent courses. For AP Government, I received 3 hours for Intro to American Government. For AP Calculus, I received 6 hours total for the equivalent of two Math courses. So it not only varies by college but by class too.

They would still label you as a freshman.

I was in a similar situation, I entered college with about 15 credits, but the school didn’t go by how many credits you had, they went by how much time you had been studying full-time.
