Is it possible to get into my choice college with my grades?

I’m a junior in high school, wanting to attend UVA (rated the second best public college in america) but my GPA is only 3.729. Does anyone know whether or not it’s possible for me to get accepted? I’m of course willing to try my best- good grades, study, clubs, AP courses and the like but i’m not sure if it will be enough…does anyone on here have any information they could share?

Your GPA is actually very good. If you live in Virginia, than you will almost surely be admitted since in state students get preference over out of state students.

Usually Public Universities have a scale, the higher your grades are, the lower your SAT/ACT score can be and still qualify. The lower your grades are, the higher your SAT/ACT score needs to be to qualify. You may be able to get the scale for UVA on their website.

I think you have a good chance. Just keep your grades up and study really hard for the SAT. Also, scheduling an interview with the admissions office might be a good idea too. Good luck.

You also need to consider your SAT scores.

It may also help to try and reach out to UVA alumnae in your area.

Your guidance counselor should be able to provideadditional information. Your HS should have information available as well.

GL and never give up on your dream!

You should be able to. What did you get on the ACT or SAT? That is probably a major factor. But i’d think you’d be able to get in to UVA. My cousin got in to Michigan, a highly-ranked school and he had about a 3.5 gpa. It all depends though. Good Luck!!!!!

i think if you work hard and study hard, you’ll be fine. i know a lot of people in academia, and how that works, so from everything i know i can’t make any guarantee, but if you work hard there’s a really good chance of acceptance at UVA.
