There are schools that offer courses related to this field. I used to work at a library when I was in high school. I just shelved books but I knew a lot of the librarians and people who worked at the circulation desk (where you check out books). I talked to many of them and almost none of them had gone to college to study at a four year institution. One was a high school graduate who worked her way up in the library (started as a shelver, then applied for higher positions). There were several who had decided to take some courses at the local community college after their kids went to college. There were some classes there that they took. You might want to consider looking into community college classes. Call them or set up an appointment with an adviser or check out their website. See if they have any courses that can help you.

There are lots of schools with programs in library science. There are web sites like Princeton review where you can search for which schools offer different majors. Most large public universities will offer this one, but there will be some other types of school that do, too, if you’re not interested in a large public university.
