Check out pharmacy, bro!

The advantages of becoming a pharmacist are:

1) Most jobs are 9-5 meaning that you will have time for family

2) It takes less time to finish and be licensed compared to dentistry and medicine

3) Most starting salary are 75-150k depending on location and need

4) You can get $1,000,000 malpractice insurance for only hundreds of dollars per year. compare that to medicine and dentristry

5) You will have a life and a job for the rest of your life

You don’t say how old you are, what year you are in college or what interests you. If you are in HS or the first year of college, don’t worry too much yet. Take the good first year basics and don’t neglect your math/ science courses. That leaves almost everything open. Remember career paths are rarely straight lines.

Information technology is becoming a huge career field right now. Good pay as well. Try taking a couple of intro courses in things you’re interested in.

There is absolutely a crisis looming for child and adolescent psychiatrists. If you could get through med school, then keep in mind that there are lots of people looking for ways to offer incentives (loan forgiveness, etc.) to entice folks to become psychiatrists for kids….its in HUGE demand, and you could choose any place to work that you wanted to….
