I think that African American Studies is a great precursor to the seminary, especially since it is something you are interested in and since great clergy have come from all different kinds of educational backgrounds. If you are planning on being a clergyperson in a primarily African American community, then this background will help you out even more.

I personally think that your graduating magna *** laude will open more doors for you; it takes a lot of persistence,study, and general hard work to graduate with honors.
