i am applying for the american university . is the SAT 1 score really important in determining my admission?

for my information, some universities in america require SAT 1 score in determining the student’s admission. for example, university X need students with SAT score of 1200 and above. if i get around 1130, do i have the chance to get admitted? does my score affect my admission chance?

If the University clearly states that you NEED a score of 1200 then you should try retaking the test and/or contacting someone at the college.

Most Universitys do not have a minimun SAT score. Many will post average scores of admitted student so perspecive students can have an idea of what they need to score.

The SAT’s do have some impact in your admittance but its not a huge chunk. Colleges also look at your GPA, the types of classes you took, extracurriculars, etc. Many colleges do not even require the SAT now; they will except the ACT as well (which many people actually do better on).

So long as University X doesnt have a minimun SAT score youll have a chance at getting in. If they do, meet with someone from the school to discuss the situation.

The score is very important. This is especially true if you are an international student and the American universities cannot determine what your school grades mean. That said, no schools have fixed minimum scores. You can usually find either median scores or 25%-75% ranges for schools, but remember that 25% of the students are below that “bottom” score.
