Good Paying College Student Job?

Even though my parents are paying for everything, and giving me a 200$ a month allowance, I want to get a job to fund my rtw trip in 2010.

So I was wondering what are some good jobs for college students that would pay pretty good and have good hours. Im done with all my classes by noon every day and I dont want to work late nights.

Ive worked at Buffalo Wild Wings, Beef O Bradys, and Red Robin and I realized I hate the restraunt industry. Although I was thinking about Day Time Bartender… Is 18 old enough?

Ive worked at TJ Maxx, and Blockbuster and realized I would sell my soul for money before I worked retail again.

I was thinking about Babysitter or Daycare (like afterschool care at YMCA) or Daytime Bar Tender or Secretary…

If anyone has any suggestions that would be great. Thanks

As for the bar, probably not. You can serve beer and wine at 18, but not mixed drinks. You could check your college’s internship office if they have one, usually they have a nice listing of part time jobs. Babysitting may be ok, but make sure you know how to handle kids.

When the school year starts, you could tutor high school kids, or younger if you want. That pays alot of money. Last year I tutored in chemistry (I was still in high school) and got $20 an hour. If you’re in college and are a good teacher you may be able to get $25 or $30. You can advertise via flyers, or call alot of private schools and public schools and tell them to refer you to students srtuggling in whatever subject you want to tutor.

Check with the Job Placement Office at your college. Getting an on-campus job is a good idea since employers on-campus are more flexible. School is your main priority. If you need time off to study, an on-campus employer will be more sympathetic to your request.

As for working as a daytime bartender, I wouldn’t recommend it. You won’t earn as many tips during the day and because the bar is busiest in the evenings and on the weekends, they’ll schedule you to work then. School is your primary focus.

Daycare or after-school care is an option however, if you need extra time to study, it may be difficult to ask for time off since they depend highly on employees to keep their schedules so they have adequate supervision of the children.

Best wishes!

Daytime bartender is a waste of effort as most bars are dead until 4pm.

If you are a good student, I suggest tutoring. I make about 10 bucks an hour tutoring economics, finance and statistics. Really I just sit in the lab and talk on AIM the entire most the time because nobody really needs help in those subjects.

Why dont you do an internship? So many companies do that and are willing to pay for school too. A paid internship pays over $10 depending on ur area…Phone companies pay pretty ok money too. Sprint, Verizon, TMobile…etc. Good luck
