Typically yes, here is what Stanford says:

Stanford requires at least two letters of recommendation. Both copies of the Statement of Instructor (Form C) should be given to instructors who have personal knowledge of your academic work, preferably those who have known you in a seminar, small class, tutorial program, or the like. Applicants who have been out of school for a significant period may substitute one letter from an employer or business associate. In some cases, these applicants may find it very difficult to obtain even one academic recommendation, in which event they may submit two nonacademic letters.

there is not any required format, usually. the terrific recomendation letters will communicate your skils/artwork ethic and your character. Specifics are continuously terrific, and a letter from a professor or former enterprise is often greater effective than out of your buddy’s mom, or your uncle. merely think of roughly what makes you a stable candidate for admission, and discover somebody who has experienced those comparable features in you.
