*Forget me not*

Do i have a chance of getting into an ivy leage school?

My mom REALLY wants me to get into an Ivy leage school. She has made sure I made perfect grades and everything.

So, my question is: do I have a chance at all?

1. All A’s since kindergarden (starting highschool)

2. going to a magnet school (hopefully)

3. in the national junior honors society

4. Have completed 3 high school credits before completing middle school

5. have gotten commemded performance on every single TAKS test since 3rd grade.

6. volunteer

7. Play French horn (i dont know if that matters)

8. Vice-president of a couple of clubs at my school

You are doing a great job but no college is interested in what you did before grade 9.

When you start in High school, that’s when the college start paying attention. Of course, if you do a great job in Middle school then you will be well prepared to do well in high school.

Take the toughest courses they will allow – as many AP classes as you can get. And do some preparation before the PSATS – if you can do well on those then you might get to be “National Merit” – that is a good thing to have on your application. Also, do some volunteer work – like, if you want to be a doctor, volunteer in a hospital, or if you want to be an architect, volunteer in a architecture library or in a historical society where they help with historic architecture restorations.

Keep up with your music. Is there any chance that you could get a prize in a state competition? The Colleges really like it when you show that you can compete at a high level and win an award – it shows that you are a leader and that you have passion and dedication…

Get into one of the academic clubs — like debate, mock trial, math or science olympiad. Get your club fired up and take a shot at winning the state championship.

Each year about 2,000,000 or more kids go off to college, but only about 20,000 will be in the Ivies, Duke, Stanford and UCHicago combined. So, if you want to be in that elite group, you need to be smart, hardworking and lucky!

Keep up the good work.

ummm so far no….colleges dont care about ur middle school stuff they only look at high school grades and if u get straight As then u have a better chance….magnet schools okay but its not much diff from public school…..honor societys a plus but many ppl r in it so not a big deal….most ppl have high school credits from middle school, especially if theyre from a magnet school so also not a big deal to a college…..recommended performaces are exaclt just average recommendations- u need to be above the recommended….playing an instrument is a plus but also is not a big deal unless u indicate u have a passion for music and r going to major in it or something…..the vice president thing is a plus but u r not a president and it depends what clubs…..basically u need to maintain the all A average, load up on a lot of APs and start getting college credits soon, doing a sport is really good for college, try to be even more involved and maybe get a position in the student govt and get an amazing score on the SATs…moneys whatever cause u can get loans to cover most of it and im sure u can come up with most of it anyway…. so far u will not stand out and have a little chance of gettin accepted

You probably could if you do really well at a different school. In all honesty though, try to figure out where you want to end up. Most likely Ivy league schools will not make the smallest difference when you are going for the jobs you want, especially once you get into the job. Besides the majority of jobs are found by connections and not 100% on your education.

With today’s population, getting into an ivy league school can be hard. Playing the French Horn helps a lot. Sometimes, schools have trouble finding members for the band, so if you’re willing to join a school’s band your chances of getting into an ivy league college will rise. They may even give you a better scholarship.

Keep it up all through high school, colleges don’t even look at middle school and down. Stay in the band all four years of high school. My teachers tell me that its important to get commended on the TAKS because just passing will just make you look average.

Yes you are an excellent candidate for an ivy league college. You just need to continue in high school and make sure that you are in all honors and AP classes. You should also volunteer, it will make you more well rounded.

Work on your college essay and arrange an interview with the admissions officer if you are near one of the schools.

The French horn matters because it shows that you are well-rounded and disciplined.

Good luck.
