Well culinary school isn’t necessarily “College” or “University” but it is still post-secondary school. It’s something that will get you somewhere. Culinary school can be a great thing, but you have to understand that a lot of people LIKE to cook… but that doesn’t mean they will like it after having it as a profession. Chefs work many hours, they rarely get breaks, and they work when most people want to be with their families. They don’t get paid that well. However, a lot of people love their job as chefs and make good use of their culinary education. The problem with culinary school is that you may change your mind in a couple of years. Go to culinary school if you are sure that’s what you want to do; if you aren’t 100% sure, it’s a really expensive decision. Which is why a lot of people choose college first, because they get more choices. Things like culinary school, massage therapy school, or cosmetology school… those things have a more concentrated area.

I’m not sure if it’s a “top” culinary school but I went to Midwest Culinary. It was a good school. I know that since they built the new culinary labs a few years ago the program has gotten better.
