When school starts, set up a meeting with your guidance counsellor. She can talk you through the whole process, and can also recommend some schools for you to look at.

She can also explain the financial aid process. You don’t need to apply for that quite yet. And you must use the FAFSA, so you must wait for it to be updated.

Until school starts, do a couple of things. First, think about what sorts of schools you might be interested in. Large, medium or small. Rural, suburban or urban. Any particular region you’d like to go to school in? Any particular majors you may be considering? Big sports scene, or not? And anything else that you, personally, would like to consider – and it can be anything. Heck, for me, the school had to have a radio station, an art major, and a gymnastics team.

Then go to the site for the Princeton Review (link below). They have something called a counsellor-o-matic that you can plug your info into, and it will suggest schools for you to look at. That’s a great place to start. And, if you want, you can go ahead and, via that site, ask the schools to send you brochures and things.

After you meet with the counsellor and decide a list of schools you might want to apply to, and contact them. Ask them to send you brochures. Check their websites, etc. If you can, arrange a campus visit and tour. Then you can narrow down your list.

So don’t freak yet. You’re good.

Start with the Princeton Review site and go from there.

Calm down dear. You have plenty of time for the loans. Check back with FAFSA in a couple of months, they should have things up and going by Nov/Dec. You should also check out Fastweb.com for scholarship opportunities. I suggest starting to look at schools online based on what you are interested in majoring in. Talk to your counselor and see if any college recruiters will be coming in to your school and when. Your counselor can also help you with financial aid/scholarship opportunities, choosing a college and the college application process. Don’t worry, you’re going to be just fine. Good Luck and RELAX!

You’re JUST entering your senior year of high school? Slow down! You dont have to worry about any of this yet. Me and most of my friends didn’t even start considering colleges until at least halfway through our first semester of senior year. You have plenty, PLENTY of time to look around and apply. I know people who didn’t send in applications until February and still got accepted into their colleges of choice. Not crappy ones either – I have a friend who applied to Vasser way late and got in no problem.

You have no need to be stressed, I assure you. Go online, read about what you want, and compare schools. See if school X has what classes you want compared to school Y and Z then make a list of where you might be interested in going.

To be honest, the hardest part of the entire process, after the paperwork, is the visiting of schools. It’s just a big pain in the *** but if you see that some of the schools you’re considering don’t even HAVE the classes you want, don’t bother visiting them!

In conclusion, just chill out. You have quite some time before you’re in fuckville on this one.

i’m a senior too, and i’ve already visited the one college where i think i might wanna go, if at all possible you should try to visit some and if not start looking some up on the internet and seeing what their admissions requirements are and if they have any scholarships specific to the school, then you should google search “free scholarship search”, there are tons of websites that take your information and then find scholarships available to you, whatever you do, i would start working on stuff now!
