Chances at Yale, Georgetown, Middlebury, Swarthmore, Haverford …?

I’m really into language and i take spanish and french in school (french at ap level) I’ve taught myself so far italian, german, and portuguese, and i’ve taken state tests that demonstrate proficiency in all three. i’m hoping that this somewhat compensates for my class rank (14 of 297). also a 2290 SAT, SATIIs are 740 World Hist, 780 Lit., 740 Chem, 750 US.

also APs 5 on Euro US and English Language, 4 on chem. I’m taking 6 AP classes this year, took 5 last year. Did a summer conlaw thing at Yale for a month. great recs. great essay. my unweighted gpa is like a 94, so i’m not sure. How much will the language thing help?

It’s worth your time to apply anywhere you might want to go. You’re in the top 5% of your class. That’s a very good class rank, and you’re probably correct that this is your weakest point.

your chances are excellent at middlebury. i got in with a much less impressive resume.

if you are a minority or otherwise “unique” I can guarantee you will get in.

if not i would give you a 85% chance.

same at haverford

@ Yale – its different, a crapshoot, 50%/60%

@ Swarthmore, Georgetown, 65%-75%

These are just guesses based on my experience. I applied to Georgetown, i’m going to middlebury, and I applied to Swarthmore

Your extracurricular activities are low, what besides the yale thing did you do in your 4 years of high school. That looks like your downfall.

BTW have you heard of College Confidential? 100s of students log on there daily to discusses college admissions and most of them are kids like you who have high sat scores and area aiming for top tier schools. check it out

your chances are really good. For Middlebury, the language thing will help, because they are a big language school.
