it is because a square is probably the simplest net to make and a circle one would be difficult and there might be lots of cardboard left over which would go to waste so as i have told you it would be:

A)Easier to make

B)Cheaper to make

C)stronger than a circle box ( this idea was submitted by my friend)

A square box is also easier to assemble by the people in the pizza shop. A circular box would take longer and be quite fiddly to put together.

It is much quicker to take the pizza from the cutting board and put it into a square box. if it was a circular box, the person putting the pizza into the box from the cutting board would have to be very precise in their actions. Otherwise, the pizza slices would flip over, and it would have to be remade.

it’s easier to manufacture square pizza boxes. there are round ones available but they are really flimsy because of the shape it is difficult to make a round box sturdy enough for carrying around with a pizza in it. They could make them thicker but that would cost them a bit more to make, which goes against any business that is trying to maximize profits and minimize expenses.

when the pie comes out of the oven and off of the peel, the square edges serve as a built in disposible hot pad, until we put in a square party pie, then they have to wait until it cools somewhat for transport. the logistics of buying round boxes is exorbitantly expensive, they can be made but are not cost effective for the vendor or the consumer, ie cost 50% more per box, and that cost is passed on the hard way to the consumer.

Boxes such as pizza boxes are die cut from machines…not only is it easier to make a square cut, it is easier to assemble the box once it is cut. To assemble a round box would be a real pain in the butt!! (talk about paper cuts! *owchies*) But a real good question!

My guess is that it’s probably a whole heckuva lot easier to manufacture a square box. And to ship, too. They come flat and you have to put them into shape. I’m sure it’s a logistical nightmare to “pop up” a circle box.

It’s easier to carry a square box than a round one.

Do you want to have to use a shoe horn to get the pizza out of a circular pizza box?
