The tallest man on record is Robert Wadlow, an Illinois man who died at 2.71m (8ft 11in) in 1940 at the age of 22. The record may not stand for much longer, however. This week, Leonid Stadnyk, a 33-year-old living in a remote village in Ukraine, hit the news as the world’s tallest living man. At 2.54m (8ft 4in), he is just 17cm short of Wadlow’s record. In the past two years,

he has grown 30cm.

Robert Wadlow is lying in a horizontal position (deceased) so he is not currently the tallest man in the world but he just might be the ‘longest person’ in the world, living or dead.

Robert Pershing Wadlow (February 22, 1918 – July 15, 1940), according to the Guinness World Records, is the tallest person in medical history for whom there is irrefutable evidence. He is often known as the Alton Giant. Wadlow reached an unprecedented 8 feet 11.1 inches (2.72 m) in height and weighed 440 pounds (199 kg) at his death. His great size and his continued growth in adulthood were due to a tumor within his pituitary gland. He showed no indication of an end to his growth even at the time of his death.

As everyone else has said, his name is Robert Wadlow, whom lived to the young age of 22, he died at 2.71m. If you go to Queensland (East Coast of Australia), Gold Coast, there is a place called Ripley’s Believe It Or Not. It has heaps of different records ands stories, including a model of Robert Wadlow. One of the funny models was an old couple, one on each side of the door. The old man was taking a picture of the old lady, his camera looked real and was flashing, both of the models looked real too. A line was building up waiting for these people to finish taking their pictures, finally I reached out and touched this old man and found out that he was just a model. It was really funny. I would defiantly recommend having a look at the place if possible.
