English is the second most spoken language in the world. The usage of English as the lingua franca of business is expected to increase due to globalisation. However, the no 1 spoken language in the world is still Mandarin, more than double the number of English speakers. If you can speak both of these two languages, you can converse with almost half of the world’s population!

i say it’s great! it allows teachers more opportunties that they can experience if they aren’t working in the States. i recently became certified to teach Engilish as a Foreign Language, and i know the market is quickly growing for native speakers.

i wish the States would realize the importance of another language because most European countries speak 3+ languages already!

not being able to speak to someone is one of the most frustrating aspects about traveling, so i embrace the notion of English (or other languages) abroad.
