Each state has it’s on criteria.
Not all require an B.S., my state doesn’t.

states may vary, but basically, you need a Bachelors degree in something, then a physical to show you don’t have any diseases, then you have to get a TB shot and show the school the results. Then fill out reams of paperwork and submit your name and DOB for the State Police and Fbi to do a background check on you. Finally, give your regional office of education a check for $50, and then wait several weeks for the certificate to arrive. But in the mean time, start makiong copies of all the above paperwork to be able to hand it to each school you plan on working at.
Sounds like a lot of hassle, and it is.
