Homemade gifts and nice and sentimental, but what a teacher REALLY needs is a gift cert to either a TAPs location or any other decent place to buy school supplies (after all we spend most of our paycheck on supplying our kids throughout the year). Also, another good gift cert is a coffee shop like starbucks. I know most of the teacher I work with drink coffee by the gallon and often struggle to find the funds to cover classroom supplies.

I’m at a little high school where there is not even a yearbook. I like the picture and scrapbook ideas, too. One thing our students make is a poetry book where everyone contributes something. We may not have a yearbook, but we have a collection of thoughts from each other, and both students and teachers value it. If you did a scrapbook, you could ask everyone to write a little poem, note of appreciation or blessing for that teacher.

The photo idea sounds great – you might take a photo of your class then make a mini-scrapbook. Have pages where everybody can sign their name & write or even draw something if they want. That would make a great keepsake. I love looking back at pictures of students I’ve had over the years.

How about some supplies for the classroom with a small token of appreciation (like paying for a couple of days lunch in the cafeteria)? Other ideas for the token gift– manicure coupon, Starbucks, restaurant coupons, chocolate . . .

Have your daughter make a undeniable little valentines card for her instructor, which could be great for the the two one in each of you as you adult males could additionally bond at the same time. That, and probably a small field of chocolate ought to be extra effective than adequate.
