Scared????????????

I did a good job on my English essay, but I forgot it at home because I was so tired after completing it that I didn’t put it in my bag!I,m so scared! I want to turn it in, but I just KNOW that my teacher won’t accept it because of lateness.Wahhh! She’ll get mad at me regardless of if I turn it in or not, because she’s already mad at me for some other homework.

*sniff* I try SO hard to be a good, quiet student. But it never works out and I just CAN’T fail this class! I CAN’T!

I don’t know what to do….Turning it in would be worthless because she’d probably just scribble a big, fat zero on top!

*cry* I just want to pass! I,m usually so good at English, but I just FORGOT, you know? It’s not like I didn’t try!

Teachers forget things, too! Like to bring your workbook, or bring some papers!

Why do they get mad at US when they’re such dingbats sometimes?

WHAT DO I DO?I,ve never failed a class before, and English used to be my best subject! Now she’ll mark me as dumb forever!

Get over it and next time pay attention to what you are doing. When you finish your homework put it in your bag. Talk to your teacher.

If I were you I would approach the teacher for a conference after class. This will show her that you are serious about improving in her class. If she grants a meeting (and she probably will- teachers love it when students show initiative), make the meeting about what YOU can do to improve your grade, not about how she is unfair/unreasonable. Let her know that you are serious about your grade and doing what you need to do to be a better student. Ask her what you can do, make a contract with her about what you will do and when you will do it, and then stick with to the contract! And by all means, turn in the paper. It is better to receive a D or an F than a 0.

As I told a first grader (yes a 7 year old), “Even if you do your homework, it does you no good if you leave it at home.”

I am sure your teacher would make an exception if this was a first time thing…but its obviously not since “she is already made at [you] for some other homework.”

The whole turning things around “teachers forget things too” can only work so many times before “forgetting” becomes “irresponsible”.

Go ahead and take the essay to class. She can only say no, if she don’t want to take it. You want have anything to loose, Right now you have a 0.But that could change if you turn it in.
