Kindergarten degree?

I know that teaching kindergarten can be as stressful or even more stressful than teaching the upper grades. But what about getting a degree in early childhood education? Is it just as rigorous to get a Master’s in that as it is in elementary education? Or is is easier?

Teaching kindergarten or elementary is fun…I thought kindergarten for one year and elementary for 4 years…I prefer elementary…but I think that teaching kindergarten is easier than teaching elementary school…I think that getting a Master’s degree in early childhood education is as tough as getting an elementary Master’s degree…but I suppose each person decides…I know I would not go back to teaching kindergarten…elementary school is more suitable for me…Good luck to you!!!

I have a good friend getting her masters in early childhood and comparing our workloads and time spent actually in class, I would say the early childhood is a lot easier than the master’s I’m getting in reading but cannot attest to if it is easier than a general elementary ed masters. I wish I could do both though because I think it’s invaluable for those of us teaching early ed. I might go back and get mine someday.

I believe it is just as rigorous, but just has focus on the younger grades. I salute you if you choose to become one. I teach 1st graders and they are so tiny I can’t imagine teaching younger ones but my peers do it wonderfully every day.
