If you went to college in another country and ur a teacher in another country. Do you have to start over in US

Do you have to get your masters degree in the same country you teach in? What are the requirements if not.

I believe that first of all you would have to check with the state you wish to teach in. Often they may give you a temporary certificate and then may ask you to take X number of classes to bring you up to their certification requirements. The state board of education will certainly ask you to submit a transcript of your course work along with documentation and/or short definitions of what you did in that course. This can take a really long time, and make sure you copy everything you send because they lose things. You also have to stay on top of it, meaning that you will make phone calls to see how things are progressing just so you stuff doesn’t get shoved to the bottom of the pile. Most states also have teacher certification tests – a general test of overall knowledge and then one in the specific area you wish to teach in (Such as math or English). So they may ask you to take and pass these tests too. It is a difficult task to undertake but it can be done with diligence. Best of luck to you.

You do not have to obtain your master degree in the US, however, depending on which state you wish to teach, you would have to have all your college transcripts and submit them to the SAC office of your local school district. You would be granted a teaching position (providing your paperwork checks out) on the understanding that you take the praxis test 1 and II and also complete X number of classes, according to the local area.
