In CA, home economics is taught at the secondary level (Jr & Sr high school). So you need to get a secondary education credential (see http://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/). This credential requires you to have a BA or BS in a specialty (major…in your case Home Econ). There may be other test to take …usually after you graduate…before you can enter the classroom for pay.
