After you take the tests, you will have to get your background checked, child abuse clearances, along with your fingerprints now. Don’t get too overwhelmed about that. They are just forms you fill out at the state police station or have them mailed out to your home.

If I were you, I would see if there is anyway to substitute or volunteer at a school to kind of get the feel if this is really what you want to do. Also it is a way to make some key connections for when you are looking for a job. It definitely is not what you know, it is who you know. It is such a rewarding job. I have been doing it for 12 years. And the bonus of a summer off is the icing on the cake. Good Luck!
