High school teachers..?

2) If there is no medical emergency, I would ask the student if they would like to go see the counselor/psychologist.
3) If the answer to #2 is no, then I would tell the student that I can see they are in a place where they really cannot concentrate on the lesson, but that they cannot sit in their seat like that. I offer them the option of moving to the back of the room and just resting until they feel well enough to join the class or go to the counselor, OR they can go to the school nurse and rest there. They have to choose one or the other.
I’ve had students choose each of these, and it has always worked out well. If I have not found out the problem by the end of class, I advise the counselor or psychologist to follow up. You never know what kids are dealing with these days.
Trust your own intuition for each student, and treat them with as much compassion as you are able to while you still have to teach the class!
