Gifted education careers…?

My boyfriend has a degree in English Literature/Philosophy and also in Education but is looking to try and get into ”gifted” education as he was a gifted/advanced IQ student himself. Does anyone know where to start looking or what qualifications are needed?

He should also seek training in working with G/T students…they tend to learn in completely different ways than non-gifted students. They also tend to have learning differences (dyslexia, etc.) that are more pronounced, so he needs to know how to work with these.

Because of the No Child Left Behind criteria, no one can teach in a subject area without official certification from a university regardless of personal experience. GT certification is usually an extra add-on to one’s original certification (like math, english, etc). Most universities offer 18 credit programs that can be completed in a summer or even online. Afterwards, he is more likely to find a position using both his english and GT certifications, like teaching advanced classes.

No. yet it must be effective, it is not a call for in Washington state or the different. there is likewise no requirement that a instructor in Washington state acquire any training or guidance particular to proficient (in Washington state that’s regular as “exceedingly able”) programming previous to being located in a lecture room. that’s now common. Surveys from NAGC (national company for proficient little ones) teach that loss of educating and expert progression in proficient subject concerns is between the main undemanding concerns between training leaders around the U. S..

I think you mean he wants to teach “gifted and talented education” Those positions go to the most qualified teacher in the subject, so he might want to get his Masters, most teachers don’t get to teach the honors courses right away.
