better pay for public education teachers…?

I’m working on an argument paper. I’m looking for anything…opinions, possible solutions, ideas, why they need it, or, even, if you disagree, tell me why!

Look up how much the average job that requires a bachelors degree pays and then look up teaching. Its probably slightly less. Private school teachers make even less because the large majority of their funds only come from the student’s tuition, rather than the numerous government funds public schools can receive.

Also education is one of the most important factors of a society’s existence and continued existence. It may take some work to find it, but about three years ago MSN had an article that was talking about just this. They rated education the second most important job for a society, next to medical doctors.

Good Luck

Awhile ago, I actually got an email “joke” regarding this topic. If you would pay a teacher the same you paid a babysitter, let’s look at what they would get:

The average teacher has 30 students. S/he teaches for about 7 hours a day. If s/he were to get paid, oh…..let’s say 3 dollars an hour per child, what would they make? (And 3 dollars is low for babysitting wages).

30 x $3= 90 dollars an hour

$90 x 7 hours= $630 a day

$630 x 181 teaching days a year=$114, 030.00

The average teaching salary, I believe, is somewhere around $35,000.00……..This of course, is a low ball number. Not to mention the high school teachers who teach over 100 students a day because they have either 7 classes or teach A/B days (so they have double the number of students). Then you have to add on all of the fun extras like faculty meetings, Parent Teacher conferences, etc. Plus, all of the grading, lesson planning, and professional development required that is not considered “on the clock” time.

And the final issue: without teachers, no other jobs would be filled because no one would be educated to do them.

Good answer fitz19teach!

I could not afford to keep teaching and raise a family. The national average might be in the 30K range; however, that means that there are still some school districts that pay averages in the 20K range. Additionally, the national average includes 30-40 year teachers some making significantly more than that of a starting teacher salary. Additionally, most teachers do not teach for more than 5 years either due to burn out or pay…

Just something else to think about…

It takes several years of teaching, just to cover the cost of my education. Teachers who are single cannot afford to even live on their own! Rent on an apartment here is at least $800/ month for something livable. The average teacher salary is about $30,000/year before taxes. That’s about $9,600/yr. not counting utilities, a car to get there, gas for the car, insurance for the car, medical insurance and other basic living expenses etc…

the concern with public training is exceedingly elementary to discover. we are nevertheless coaching young ones interior an identical type that we knowledgeable them interior the Fifties, a one-length fits all academic production unit. instructors unions, standardized tests, and binding state standards all make a contribution to this concern. the concern with this type is that it has no longer replaced interior the final sixty years even even with the undeniable fact that all of us know so a lot greater approximately how human beings learn and the variations in gaining knowledge of varieties. I additionally sense that we don’t probable know what our substantial objective of a accepted and secondary training is in this u . s .. Is the objective to furnish those with the person-friendly skills needed to be an informed citizen? Is it to coach human beings for training on the faculty point? Is it to furnish human beings the needed skills to be aggressive interior the twenty first century worldwide artwork stress?

The issue of teacher-retention in large cities.

The cost of housing here in Seattle is so high that teachers simply cannot afford to live and teach in the city.

I’m going to need better pay.

they work long *** hours do tons of paper work, go to meetings, plan, teach, grade, babysit…etc .etc .etc if it weren’t for teachers there would be no other proffesion…pay respects!!! Teachers shouldnt have to choose between buying supplies for their school kids and making a car payment. or choose between another dumb workshop and spending time with their own families.

I never understood why I make so much money doing nothing important and teachers, that shape the future leaders, doctors, scientists, etc. make so little money for such an important job.

PS-This goes for nurses, too.
