I did an internship abroad and i am glad i did! Why? Because it opens up a range of learning experiences and opportunities. Professionally: 1/ You practice a foreign language, very valuable skill. 2/ On your CV it proves you can adapt to a different culture, very good too. While at home, you most likely socialise with your set group of friends. 2/ Things are different abroad so every day abroad is an exciting adventure, good or bad, and will help tear down your prejudices. It’s like travelling but it’s even better because you actually meet the locals and directly experience life as they do. 3/ If you are very young, it may be your first experience away from home or school, so it will help you become more independant and build your self-confidence.

Anyway, it is a life-affirming experience which i highly recommend. You will learn so much about the place you’re going to and about yourself too! Be careful though, it becomes addictive and you’ll want to continue exploring new territories 🙂
